What asset managers pay in Germany
There are also subtle differences in pay among asset managers, depending on whether the company is German, European, global or American. For example, an employee with five to ten years of professional experience at a German asset manager receives a basic salary of 90,000 to 140,000 euros and 85,000 to 150,000 euros at an American company in Germany. The spread is therefore higher for the Americans than for the domestic companies. While the maximum bonus for German companies is 100 percent, up to 200 percent is possible for American companies, which of course depends on business development and performance. The tables below were compiled by the personnel consultancy Rehwald Associates in Königstein im Taunus, which specializes in asset management.
Meanwhile, the weak markets appear to be having an impact on salary trends. « I don’t think salaries have increased since 2018, but have stagnated, » reports headhunter Manuel Rehwald. « Likewise, portfolio managers are now being paid considerably differently. It depends very much on which company you work for and what responsibility you are given. »
